Cycling Myanmar, Bike Adventure across Cities

Tour Program (003)Yangon-Mandalay-Pyinoolwin-Lashio-Hispaw-Kyauk Me- Amauapuru- Sagaing-Mingun-Myin Guan-Bagan-Mt Popa-Yangon (12N/13D)

 

 Day1: Arrive to Yangon & Sightseeing around Yangon (By Car)

 

Arrive at Yangon International Airport and welcome at the airport by our tour guide and transfer to hotel. Then transfer to hotel for check-in Yangon . Dinner will be served in Karaweik Palace Restaurant watching Myanmar Traditional Dances.

Day 2: Yangon- Mandalay- PyinOoLwin ( B,L,D) (with car, bike)

cycling 04After breakfast, transfer to the airport for the flight to Mandalay, the last Capital City of the 3rd Myanmar Dynasty. Upon arrival at Mandalay airport, drive to PyinOoLwin approximately 2 hours and half driving up to the hill station. In PyinOoLwin or Maymyo as it was called formerly by the name of the founder of the British Hill Station. Check in hotel and refresh. Fitting up bike and brefing. Then, start the sightseeing by mountain bike for warming up: Botanical Garden, one of the chains of the Kew Garden in London, which can offer the visitors the ambience of British Colonial Era, BE falls to relax, and then drive up to the Image of Maha Aunt HtooKanthar Buddha on the hill where you can see the surrounding area as a partially panoramic view. You should not miss to take a Tour of Stage Coach to explore the town still filled with the Colonial Houses. Lunch and dinner at local restaurant.

Day 3: PyinOoLwin- Train on Goktiek Viaduct –Lashio ( B , L , D) (with train, car, bike)

cycling 05In the late morning we will take a ride on one of Asia’s last great train lines. A short way in we pass over the Goktiek Viaduct which at the time of construction in 1900 was the largest railway trestle in the world. Constructed from Pensylvania Steel it stands strong to this day. Morning train from Maymyo at around 9:00 am to the Famous GoakHteik Viaduct constructed by the British during their rule. It takes 2 and a half hour until the Naung Mon Train station to observe one of the Highest Viaducts. From there, cycling to Lashio (approx: 2 and half hours drive with car) where the northern railway line ends as well as the Historic Burma Road coming from the border of China. Upon arrival check in at the hotel and after a short rest, take a stroll in Lashio Night Market enjoying the night life. Lunch and dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 4: Lashio – Hsipaw ( B , L , D) (with car, bike)

After breakfast, we leave early from the hotel about 0730am. Then start the cycling along the Burma Road for 35-45 Kilometers as morning part. Lunch at a local restaurant or picnic lunch. And then continue the rest kilometers until the peaceful town called Hsipaw. Total cycling hours will be more or less 4-5 hours. Along the ways you can enjoy the local scenic. Dinner at a local restaurant in Hsibaw.

Day 5: Hsipaw& Surroundings Excursion Tour ( B , L , D) (with boat, trekking)

Today, enjoy the alternative taste of the trip, boat trip and trekking. Take a private boat along the tranquil Duthtawaddy River that flows up to Mandalay to open out to the historic Ayeyarwaddy River. The boat trip will take more or less 1 hour and you will arrive at the confluence of Duthtawaddy River or MyitNge and Hsipaw River. You can have a swim if you like. After a rest, cruise down up to a certain village and start your walking to the typical Shan villages.Trek until Hsipaw passing by the Saw Bwar Haw, the Shan King’s Palace, the last Shan King’s mansion on the way. Picnic lunch and dinner will be local restaurant.

Day 6: Hsipaw – Kyauk Me (B,L,D) (with car, bike)

Today, biking from Hsipaw to Kyauk Me, a small town on the Shan Plateau, but the capital of Green Tea Plantation. On the way, visit Baw Gyo Pagoda as well as the Hot Springs for a shower to relax the tense muscles. Then continue biking to Kyauk Me enjoying the tea plantation along the way and lunch at Shan restaurant at the entrance of Kyuak Me Town. Check in at the hotel and take rest.

Day 7: Kyauk Me – Mandalay (with car , bike)

After breakfast, driving down hill to Mandalay & proceed by bike down to Mandalay. Cycling distance time will be around 4 hours & continue drive to Mandalay. Check in hotel and relax. Lunch at a local restaurant in Mandalay. Then afternoon sightseeing and touring around Mandalay with bike. Visit Zay Cho Market , Atumashi Monastry , Kuthodaw Pagoda-well known for its world largest book. Explore the real life and ways of living of Myanmar people along the way up to Mandalay. Lunch and Diner at a local restaurant.

Day 8: Mandalay – Amarapura – Sagaing – Mingun-Mandalay (B,L,D) (with car , boat, bike)

After breakfast, Excursion is by Bike to the Ancient capitals of Amarapura aka the Southern City, the ancient Royal Capital before Mandalay. In Amarapura, visit one of the biggest monasteries with more than 1200 Buddhist monks where under the strict tight-scheduled Rules the monks study very hard the Buddhist Canons day and night in order to be able to carry on the Budda’s teachings verbally like the Noble Theras did after the Buddha’s demise in the 6th Century B.C. Then visit the Silk- Weaving workshop. Here, Amarapura hand-weaving silk Designs are very famous as LunYarKyawCheik, More-than-hundred Loom Design, in which many small colorful silk thread looms wave through the weft creating the unique Myanmar Ceremonial silk longyis. Depending on the designs, to finish a longyi with a hundred or so looms, it can take at least a month! Then drive to U Bein Bridge believed to be the longest wooden bridge in the world that spans Taung Thaman Lake. Take a walk on the bridge and enjoy a photo opp! And then ride the bike to Sagaing crossing over newly-opened bridge paralleling the first British- built Span side by side. Sagaing, the capital city of Sagaing Division, has been quite a few times Royal Capital and now stands as a Buddhist Center. Visit Sagaing Hills filled with Meditation Centers, Monasteries, and Nunneries. The view from the platform of Sun OoPunya Shin Pagoda that takes the overwhelming hilltop is really breath-taking. Then visit U Min Thoe Sal, 30 Caves Pagoda. Lunch at a local restaurant.And then continue to Mingun where the World’s Biggest Mingun Bell, weighing over 90 Metric Tons that is believed to be the world heaviest hanging bell in the world and MigunStupa unfinished due to the mysterious beliefs of its builder. Then, visit the very first Home for Aged founded purely by a Burmese Lady. Meeting with the long-term nurse who speaks fair English at the Center of Old Age pays a lot. Finally visit MyaThein Dan Pagoda which represents famous Mt. Meru according to Buddhist Cosmology. After that, take the boat back to Mandalay. Our will wait at the Jerry in Mandalay side and transfer to hotel. Dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 9: Mandalay – MyinGyan (B,L,D) (with car , boat, bike)

After breakfast, start cycling to the one of the biggest trade cities of Central Myanmar-called Myingyan. We will be transfer with car to reach cycling point. Then start cycling to Myingyan. Lunch at a local restaurant. For some kilometers we will drive with car and continue cycling when reach good places to cycle through the villages. You can enjoy the daily life of local villages. Arrive at Myingyan in the evening. Check in hotel and relax. Dinner at local restaurant.

Day 10: Myingyan- Mt. Popa(B,L,D) (with car , boat, bike)

After breakfast, cycling of today will get involved the flat land ride through the quiet country road Mt. Popa, the Oasis of the Dry Zone, the extinguished million-year-old volcano and the abode and the refuge of all Myanmar Nats, Spirits.No wonder that the poor mind may seek the shelter under which one can feel certain of high-yield harvest, safe life. The name Popa represents the abundance of flowers and you can see seasonal flowers and fruits once you enter the small town at the foot of the extinct volcano. Visit central Nat Shrine at the foothill of Mt. Popa. Going up 777 steps is optional but the view from the top makes tired-feet quite relaxing. Mount Popa houses not only Nats but also Asian monkeys along its steps uphill. Feeding the poor Gibbons, Baboons costs not much money and you may gain some merits to add a step towards Nirvana. Lunch and dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 11: Mt. Popa –Bagan (B,L,D) (with car, bike)

After breakfast, cycling to our ultimate destination of Northern Myanmar to Central Myanmar cycling tour, Bagan. You can make down hill cycling from Mt. Popa. On the way, you may stop at a palm tree collection workshop to see the ways of living of AnyarThar people and observe the palm culture. You can learn the toddy glove and toddy trees how to produce the jiggery sweet and way of life in local villages. And then continue cycling to Bagan. Arrive at Bagan and rest at the hotel for a while. Then Enjoy the sunset from Shwe San Daw Pagoda. Dinner at the local restaurant.

Day 12: Bagan Excursion Tour- Yangon with evening flight (B,L,D) (with flight, car, bike)

cycling 06After breakfast, start cycling to Nyaung U morning market which is known as Market on the Floor with a variety of local vegetables and products such as typical snacks, food, Handicrafts, Thanakha the most adorned Burmese Make-up, and so on. Then, visit the most sacred stupaShweZiGon built in 11 Century by the most outstanding Buddhist King, Anawrahta, GuByaukGyi Temple to see the mural from 12 Century, the massive red-colored Htilominlo Temple, and lastly before check-in at the hotel, visit most beautiful Ananda Temple built in late 11 Century housing giant Standing Buddhas which give the viewers illusion of Smiling-or-Serious facial expression of the Enlightened One. Lunch at a local restaurant. And then transfer to Airport to take flight to go back Yangon. Arrive at Yangon, meet with guide and transfer to hotel. Dinner at a local restaurant. Free and relax at the hotel.

Day 13: Yangon Sightseeing & Departure (B) (with car)

After breakfast, according to your international departure flight time, If the time permits, visit Scott Market, Bogyoke Market, which sells many Myanmar Traditional Handicrafts, namely, Pan Sai Myo, 10 kinds of flowers; Blacksmith, Goldsmith, Coppersmith, Stone Carvings, Wood Carvings, Lacquer Wares, and so on (Scott Market is off every Monday!). Then according to your international departure flight time we transfer to airport for your International departure.
